It's full of fun, fellowship, and cheerfulness! As a staff member, you will have the chance to teach merit badge classes, work in the trading post, work in the dining hall, and do other awesome things. No matter where you work, you will have an impact on the lives of many Scouts just like you. You will be helping them learn about the values of Scouting and making sure they have a great time at Ho Non Wah. Camp staff is not all about work, though. The staff sings songs at almost every meal. They put on campfires, shows, and camp-wide games. Camp staff members can even take a few merit badges during the summer!

Camp Director
James Barton
James is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor Recipient of Unali'Yi Lodge. He has been a part of the Ho Non Wah Camp Staff for over three decades. He has served as the Lodge Chief for Unali'Yi Lodge and Lodge Adviser. He is currently serving as the E7 Section Adviser. During the off season, he is a High School Science Teacher at Fort Dorchester Hight School. His passion for camping the outdoor, American Indian Culture and Leadership growth and development continues to inspire the next generation of scouts and scouters. The BEST is yet to come!!!
Program Director
Gavin Garner
Gavin is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor recipient of Unali'Yi Lodge. He has been a member of the Camp Ho Non Wah Staff for over ten camp seasons. He currently serves as the Swamp Fox District Executive for Coastal Carolina Council. He has served on Aquatics, Trading Post Staff and Trading Post Director, Aquatics Director and Shooting Sports Director. He enjoys model design building and ultimate frisbee.
Camp Ranger
Andrew Britz
Andrew is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of Unali'Yi Lodge. He has been a member of the Camp Ho Non Wah Staff since 2017 as a member of our aquatics staff. He has been an active member of our OA Lodge and served as the 2022-23 Lodge Chief for Unali'Yi Lodge. He enjoys family camping, shooting guns and making people laugh.
Commissioner
Dick "Grandpa" Koehler
Grandpa is the oldest Eagle Scout on the Camp Ho Non Wah staff and a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow. He has been scouting for over 75 years and was recognized as a NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout in 2021. He has served as a District Executive, and is a member of the Council Executive Board for Coastal Carolina Council. When not at camp he is active with the Knights of Columbus.

Arlene "Mom" Barton
Arlene most affectionately know as "Mom" has been a member of the Camp Ho Non Wah Staff for over 20 years. She is a Vigil Honor Recipient of Unali'Yi Lodge and is a retired school teacher. As a member of our staff, she has served as Camp Medic, Handicraft Director and is currently one of our Camp Commissioners. Prior to becoming a member of the HNW Staff she served as the Kiawah-Etiwan Cub Scout Day Camp Director for over 15 years.

Kevin Kramer
Kevin has been a member of the Camp Ho Non Wah Staff for over 20 Years. He is a recipient of the Venture Silver Award and a Vigil Honor Recipient from Unali'Yi Lodge. He is a past lodge chief and currently serves as Associate Lodge Adviser. Kevin serves on the Council Camping Commitee as National Camp Accreditation Program Chairman. When not at camp, Kevin operates Eagle Eye IT.
